SUPPORT WOMEN IN FILM
Women need more opportunity both behind and in front of the camera. The Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film analyzed the 250 top-grossing films of 2016 and found that women comprised only 24% of producers, 13% of writers, and 5% of cinematographers. On screen, female characters represented only 29% of protagonists, 37% of major characters, and 32% of speaking characters (both major and minor). According to www.bechdeltest.com, only about 60% of films have 1) at least two women in them who 2) talk to each other about 3) something besides a man.
Three Roads is a film about and by women, and by men who support and appreciate women. The three lead actresses co-wrote the film, and two of the three produced it. The film was shot by a female cinematographer, and the crew was more than 50% female. The film's story portrays fully-realized, complex women and their friendship with depth and authenticity. Thus, when you support Three Roads, you are supporting women in film.
